The video program produced based on the book presentation events of "Crescent & Star: Turkey Between Two Worlds" by its author Stephen KINZER in New York in October 2001. Thus the author also presents the television program.

The book presentation events organized by Middle East Forum, Turkish American Business Forum and Turkish American Society.

First edition of the book published in September 2001 right after the September 11, and Afghanistan issue was centered in the world political arena, and there had various strategies to involve one way or another of Turkey to "anti-terrorist" coalition. Nearly two years later, we are in the post-war era of Iraq, which also involves one way or another of Turkey since the beginning.

In Stephen KINZER's book as well as in his New York City presentations, KINZER ambitiously and passionately highlighted Turkey's strategic place and importance for America as well as the world. The program conveys some highlights from his presentations, and connects his vivid and dynamic ideas of Turkey's near history, the time the book published, and today as well as reflects to us the author's suggestions and hypothesis of Turkey which can be a leading country for the rest of the Islamic Word for the next 50 years, if Turkey acts in time.

The events video-taped (October 2001), produced and edited (August 2003) by Bircan Unver. Still-images of Turkey provided by New York Turkish Culture and Promotion Office.

"Crescent & Star" video program will be re-run under the Light Millennium Television (LMTV) series at QPTV in the following months as well.
