"The Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia, and Later South Asia" explores the Metropolitan Museum's collection of Islamic art, a collection that is one of the finest and most comprehensive in the world.
Scenes from the New Islamic Galleries incorporated with three remarks, which were made during the "Red Ribbon Cutting Ceremony" by Daniel Brodsky, Chairman, Board of Trustees, The Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET); Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO, The Metropolitan Museum of Art ; and Kate D. Levin, Commissioner, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, on October 24, 2011. Further, the program presents an exclusive interview with Sheila Canby, Chief Curator, Department of Islamic Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, who provides an overview on the New Islamic Galleries.
