OZLEM PAKER BIYOGRAFI
Visual artist and designer .Ozlem Paker continually explores different mediums to approach the concepts of universal interaction, relation, relativity and interconnection. Materials reflect the graphic qualities of geometric structure, line, shadow, and balance. A feeling of fragility permeates the works, as if caught in a stage of deconstruction. Pakerís diverse international experiences are captured in the structural and sociopolitical aspects of her work. Ms. Paker was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey.
She received her B.F.A. In Ceramics in June 1992 from Fine Arts Faculty of Mimar Sinan University, Istanbul, and continued her studies in interior architecture at the Parsons School of Design, New York City. Simultaneously, there she became a ceramics instructor in the product design department.
She is a recipient of the ëSpecial Award for Young Artistí, featured in May 1992 at the Golden Jug Ceramic Competition held in Izmir Art Museum, Izmir, Turkey. Later, she switched to work with mixed media. Currently, she is pursuing a masters degree in Design & Technology at Parsons, concentrating on interactive multimedia, in other words, continuing her explorations in ënew mediaí arena. Pakerís art and design works have been featured at the American Craft Museum, New York City, Gallery X and various art galleries and showrooms, and they are also included in several private collections. Since 1992, Ms. Paker lives and works in the U.S.A. She is a practicing artist and designer, and gives design services through her own firm ëTransitions in Designí specializing in new media.
