Brief Bios of the Confirmed Panelists for the Studio Town Hall Meeting

Wale Idris Ajibade
Wale Idris Ajibade (Wale Idris) is the founder and elected Executive Director of African Views, a nonprofit multimedia and research organization that manages a free and open source framework for a worldwide African cultural information exchange and collaborative network. He is also the elected Chairman of the Board of the first proposed African Diaspora Federal Credit Union as well as the appointed Chairman of the 2011 African Day parade. He is the founder of Foundation for Cultural Diversity.
Prior to joining the Non-profit sector, he worked as the Director of Research and Marketing, raising money for Korean International Investment Funds. He has also worked for several distinguished financial firms such as Standard and Poor’s, Reuters America, and Citibank Private Bank. Wale has a robust background in economics, research, data integration, variance and technical market-analyses, and marketing. He has fifteen years tenure in the financial market industry; he has an MBA from Columbus University. His academic background is based in Philosophy and Economics. He is an alumni of University of Vienna, Austria. He is fluent in English, German, and Yoruba.
Kevin Cassidy
Kevin Cassidy – Communications and External Relations Officer, ILO Office to the UN International Labour Office
Kevin Cassidy (USA) is currently the Communications and External Relations Officer for the International Labour Organization (ILO) based in New York, and is also responsible for communications in North America.
Mr. Cassidy has worked in the field of international development for 28 years on a wide range of economic and social issues. Before his assignment to New York, Mr. Cassidy was the Chief Technical Adviser for the ILO’s Global Campaign on Promoting Fundamental Rights at Work.
During that time he has worked in 34 countries developing interactive radio and television
programmes as well as developed stories for print media in support of the technical cooperation projects of the ILO. He has provided training on work-related issues for several thousand journalists, producers and editors in all regions of the world and has worked closely with BBC, CNN, Deutsche Welle and numerous national and local media organisations on covering the world of work.
Prior to joining the ILO, Mr. Cassidy worked for the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) in London as the Operations, Communications and Partnership Manager. His work with the AKF focused on rural development work in Central and South Asia.
Mr. Cassidy has worked in several UN offices over the past 28 years including Department of
Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) on the issue of landmines, the Office of the Coordination of
Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA), the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (50th Anniversary Secretariat and the GIVAS Project), the Department of Public Information (DPI) and the Non-Governmental Liaison Service (NGLS), New York.
Mr. Cassidy holds a Masters Degree from Columbia University in Economic and Political
Development and is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin).
Terry Kiragu

Terry M Kiragu, Executive Coordinator and Main UN Representative of Olof Palme Peace Foundation (OPPF) .
Terry has worked in various countries in Sub-Saharan Africa focusing on poverty alleviation, private sector development, capacity development, civil society engagement , gender and environmental sustainability. She is passionate about enhancing participation and involvement of the poor in spheres of policy making including empowerment of citizens particularly marginalized communities to be able to speak out about issues affecting them
Terry has worked for various international Non Governmental Organizations like SNV Netherlands Development Organization and African World Life Foundation. She has also worked with United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as a policy specialist where she led a successful global partnership to localize Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) targeting 17 countries in Africa, Asia and Balkans, including supporting engagement and contribution of civil society in global issues particularly MDGs.
She has a Bachelor Degree in Economics and Sociology , MBA in strategic management and a Diploma in Management from the University of Nairobi.

Gregory Morgan
Dr. Gregory Morgan is Director of the program in Technology, Policy, and Ethics (TPE) at Stevens Institute of Technology, in Hoboken NJ. Stevens IT has recently launched a new masters program in TPE. Dr. Morgan also teaches courses in Environmental Policy as part of the popular Green Engineering minor. His academic training is in philosophy, biochemistry, and economics.
Dr. Sorosh Roshan
Dr. Sorosh Roshan, M.D., MPH, FACOG President, International Health Awareness Network, NGO Rep.
Dr. Roshan, a native of Iran, is Founding President of the International Health Awareness Notwork (www.ihan.orgis), and a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with a Master’s Degree in Public Hhealth from New York University.  She has served as Attending Physician at Overlook Hospital, Summit, NJ for 30 years, as Vice President of the  International Council of Women, as President of the National Council of Women/U.S.A., and, currently, as Director of the  Lehman College foundation. She is also on the Board of OICI, the Organization of Industrialization Centers International. As a Non-Governmental Organization's delegate to the United Nations since 1985, she has been on the forefront of issues affecting women throughout the world. Further, her fundraising efforts with the International Health Awareness Network have made it possible to conduct significant field projects in and for Kenya, Jordan, Ethiopia, Romania, Brooklyn, Ghana, Bangladesh, South Africa and Somaliland.
Bircan Ünver

Ms. Ünver is a Turkish native, is Originator (1999) and Founding President of The Light Millennium (LM, formed in 2001), which is a public benefit, multi-media and culture organization, and is the permanent representative of the organization to the UN DPI since 2006. As an advocate for “freedom of expression” and “public benefit media,” she has compiled and e-published over 50 e-issues and produced near to 80 original television programs, garnering several awards. She is also the founder of the ISIKBINYILI.ORG based in Istanbul, Turkey (January 2010), as a sister organization to the LM. Bircan holds a Master’s Degree in Media Studies of the New School University. Her thesis project was a half-hour video documentary titled “ALL IDEAS: Freedom of Expression in Turkey” (1999).
Cem Zorlular
Youth Rep. - Co-host
Cem Zorlular is currently a student in Columbia College studying Economics and Sociology. He has focused in Non-Profit projects in the areas of Speech, Debate and Education. His projects include various debate workshops around Turkey, High School Admission test prep classes, extracurricular summer camps for children and formation of the Turkey’s National Debate Association. He is the Youth Representative of the LM organization to the UN in 2012.

It is built on the first article of the United States Bill of Rights: Freedom of Speech, in conjunction with the Universal Human Rights Article #19, on Freedom of Expression. It invites citizens of the world to submit, in an appropriate artistic medium, ideas and experiences that will help foster better understanding between people of different cultures and beliefs. The organization frequently presents ideas on its multi-media platforms, also public spheres on the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations and UN-NGO Briefings, UN-Women as well as human interests and culture at large. The organization obtained 501c3 status effective on July 17, 2001, and associated itself with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations on December 12, 2005. In 2011, LMTV presented a monthly series along with Special programs at QPTV. Since the first week of January 2012, LMTV has moved up to a weekly series at QPTV on Mondays, channel#56 at 11:30a.m. & on Fridays, channel#56 at 10:00p.m.
